Layaway Details

We are happy to offer our exclusive Troost39 Layaway Service, which allows you to put up to $50.00 worth of merchandise into layaway for one month. Here’s how it works: You put 25% of the total purchase price down at the time of layaway. Then Troost39 will place your merchandise in our specially-reserved layaway area, for up to 30 days. There’s no interest or additional fee. Just take your time and pay us the full amount by the end of 30 days. No worries!

Our Very Old Building

We remain committed to providing our customers and guests with a place we, with pride, call home. Each year we take on several new projects to maintain and enhance the physical environment of our Store. Whenever possible, we work with other funding organizations to afford key improvements. Additional financial donations help close the gap for our improvement projects, and help in the event of a maintenance issue (plumbing and an aging roof are our biggest worries!)

Aid By Request Program

Aid By Request: We help other organizations who might not otherwise be able to help their clients in special situations, for example: re-housing families; providing money to buy heaters to keep people warm; paying for HVAC repairs in a half-way house.

Basic Needs: For those individuals who enter our store with no money and are in need of the basics — clothes, blankets, tents, shoes — we provide them with these necessities free of charge.

We provide part-time / as-needed employment to at-risk individuals from the local community who are not able to find work elsewhere.

Troost39 was founded by four members of St. James Catholic Church parish. We financially support certain projects that help keep this vital institution flourishing in order to remain a beacon for our community.

KC G.I.F.T. works to reverse the effects of systemic racism by building an empowered community of Black business owners. Founded in May 2020, our small-business accelerator knocks down barriers to success by offering access to financial support, marketing services and other professional resources.
